Creature concept for the blisterrot universe that keeps growing in size :) This one lives in the misty and warm parts of the forest. A couple of hundred years old and can with its complex root system feel vibrations from unaware adventurer coming near. Releases strong pheromones in the misty air to lull the prey into a false sense of security and when the prey is unconscious it uses its tendrils to pick it up and swallow it. Had a blast working on it, especially trying to get the roots and skulls right :)
Aand some music, take care folks!

I got asked a while ago to do a screaming monster of some kind for a really cool company that makes the program "Dehumaniser". The program is used in the entertainment industry to make awesome monster effects based on your own voice. The nda is lifted now and the software is out so I can show you the illustration. Had a blast working on it, go check out their program.
Here is a link to their website: http://dehumaniser.com/
Take care and have a great weekend!

Something I did this morning, really fun to try and do some storytelling even if its super rough :).
Inspiration came from an conversation me and my brother had yesterday about some stolen Cobalt-60 and who we thought stole it. And the imagination spun wild from that :) ofc...

Hello everyone! Photostudy on the top and sketch on the bottom. Fun to try and replicate the stone busts texture, focused more on the face and let the rest be kinda rough. Would love to have a realsize bust at home to do lifestudies on so will go on a hunt for that. And a quick sketch I call him "wat?", the background is a photo and I tried to meld the creature into it so it would look like he lived there :) so much fun and its a cool way to practice. Take a photo and try to paint in something and make it look like it fits somewhat :). Take care everyone!

Had fun doing this study, the hardest part of it was the face. Think I repainted it a couple of times, need to practice more on faces :). Photo from faestock, really cool pictures on her site check it out if you haven't seen it. Take care ppl!

Hello! Here is some of the 30 min sketches I've done, really fun and tricky to push them to some kind of finished illustration :). Setting the timer then starts to scribble and see what comes up. Joined a fb group called daily spitpaints that everyday announces a couple of words that you can interpret however you like and do sketches of. The rules are 30 min and no photo texture simple as that :) Some of the artists in there are really awesome and a huge inspiration for me so check it out and join the fun.
Another sketch, not a 30 min one :) played around with shapes and different layer properties. Looking around and trying out new stuff much fun :)
Take care ppl!

Movie study from "Willow", lots of fun working on this one :) the movie is still good too!
I really like to do these kind of illustrations lately, just to change the approach and all. This time I wanted to experiment and learn some more about camera view and a more dynamic feel. So I did a rough sculpt in Zbrush and then used the model to look for views that interested me. Lots of fun!

Anders Zorn (self portrait) study, really love his work and its fun and to try and imitate the brush strokes. Need to do more "old masters" studies, think you can learn a lot from them. Have a great weekend everyone!

Having some fun between work and stuff :) Really enjoyed working on this one, and I think you can download the original size (A4) as well. Might need to right click it then open in a new tab or something like that. Take care yall!

Hellooo! Thought it was time for some movie studies, been quite busy the last month so it feels good to do something different. Its really fun to try and match the look in the pictures and try out new approaches to effects and such. Trying to do them pretty quick and get the overall look, working in thumbnail ish size. Not worrying so much about details.
Take care everyone!

Played around a bit :) started as a movie study from the really good movie "The howling" then I started to think about all the crazy movies from the 80s. Remember when my friend got a hold on Hellraiser and Day of the day, and how fucking scared I was to go home that night. Good memories! I wanted that old vhs tape feel so I found a basic tutorial on it here : vhs effect
Take care yall!

Heyoo! Had lots of fun working on this creature, he is very slow but dangerous using his camouflage to hide and await his meal walk by and then snatch them with his octopus looking arms. The mucus secreted from the arms is sedative, so better get out of his grip before its to late. If you stand totally still you can sometimes hear it move as it finds a new location to hide, and if you are lucky you can see it slowly move in the mist.
Sculpted it in Zbrush, then painted the backgrounds and texture on its back in Photoshop. Really fun to experiment and combine the two tools. Hope you like it! Take care everyone!

Concept art for a sci-fi ish project I am working on. Really fun working on something different. Cool to work on non organic materials and try to get it to look natural. Other than working on sci-fi projects I've been playing around with Zbrush a bit, haven't figured everything out yet but soo fun! :)
Here are some examples so far

Received a mysterious package yesterday, and look what was in it! So cool that they send an copy over, had almost forgotten about it. Its the warhammer expansion I got asked to work on last year, my card I did was "Big guns" had a lot of fun working on it and with the art director Mike Linnemann. Really proud to be involved with the warhammer ip, I love the lore and I used to paint the models when I was younger. So many good artists that worked on this expansion, the art is really awesome.
Have a great Friday yall!

Heyoo! Here are a few of the thumbs I did for the illustration "Oryx of Saturn" Usually try to do lots of them until I really cant come up with any more, and then look for the strongest one. This time it was a hard pick, kinda liked all of the ones I sketched out more. But I settled for the one to the middle left, It had what I wanted to try out with the silhouette. And it had a pretty good triangle shape that read well. I then started to write down thoughts about it, like what colors and light setup to use and what kind of feel I wanted. Just playing around with words is pretty useful when you sketched out the roughs. Sometimes new ideas pop up combining words with illustrations.
I wanted to share with yall that I opened an print shop where I will sell some of my digital illustrations.
I sell Oryx of Saturn in high quality paper so check it out! :)
( Click on the banner to get there )
Will add more stuff in the future so keep an eye out, take care yall!

Heyoo everyone! Had a blast working on this one, did some planning before I jumped into painting it this time. Learned loads by writing down what I wanted it to be and did different thumbnail sketches for it too. Might scan the other versions and my mad scribble paper so I can show how it looked. Anyways, hope you like it! :) take care yall!!

Heyoo yall! sooo, posting some of the many random illustrations and studies I've played around with :). This is what it looks like when I do morning warm ups, it can be studies or some sketchy idea. Cant get enough of Thomas Keublers work, he is really awesome! Other than that I've been outside more, in the "Real life" feels guuude, kinda like a mini-vacation. Oyeah, and check out Black Sabbaths new album its pretty good!
Link to Thomas Keublers awesome work:

Yo! My brother came over the other day and we watched Dagon and sketched and this is what came out on the paper, always a blast sketching with him :). We both like the movie and it has some great scenes but some are really wonky and the acting isn't top notch but hey its the overall feeling of it that is interesting. Take care yall time for bed!

Another version of an portal :) felt kinda weird to sculpt stones haha, but so much fun. Will buy some more sculpey so I can do larger objects and faces. The grey kind is a bit firmer and the pink/skin/flesh colored one is a bit softer. I really like to play around with clay, just take a couple of mins to do something stupid and works nice to warm up the fingers. I've also noticed when I paint with oils or such then switch over to digital I use the same kind of strokes if that makes any sense :), which is nice when I feel a bit cramped up.
About the portal, Its a bit smaller and I imagine that you place your hand through the hole in the stone wall to traverse into other dimensions. Its hidden deep into the forest, protected by surrounded bogs.
I am currently looking for work so if someone is in need of illustrations let me know :).
Contact me here: email@example.com
Have a great Friday everyone!

Portal sketch and some more Portal ideas :) keeping it loose and relaxed. Been listening/watching documentaries about the old Egypt. Really like the mystical structures and hieroglyphs. Must confess that I also watched the old Stargate from 94 haha, might had some influence on the illustration :P. The flying Raas or whatever they are called are still so damn scary. Time to do some studies, take care yall!

Yo! New illustration I've been working on. Love to paint brutish Ogres :) more of those in the future for sure.
Trying to push the light setup and the dynamic/motion feel. Other than painting Ogres I've been sketching and writing on the Blisterrot project, sketched up a map with different areas and such that I can use as a guide. Sooo much fun to play around with that and come up with weird monsters and cool areas. And more ideas just keeps coming when I sketch on paper more than digital :).
Been trying out Neverwinter on their open beta, pretty cool game I must say. Their battle system is really active and fresh, more and more games seems to adopt this system which is nice . Made a little pesky halfling rogue trickster (playing sometimes, on the Dragon server named him "Dregg halflok" come and say hi) :)
Over and out! Take care and have a great Sunday!

Another movie study :) think its from Excalibur? correct me if I am wrong. Mixing it up with studies between stuff is always fun. And its a good way to figure out what you need to focus on more. Been trying to time myself to things lately, for example put 1-2 hours to only do sketches or anatomy. Otherwise I find it easy to loose time on other things. Got a timer on the desk so it feels kinda good to know where the time went hehe :)
Take care for now!

Then a study of a fireball, used an image of a regular fire as reference. Fun but tricky to get it right. Then some lightning, found a good tutorial on the web and thought I would give it a go. Might be tricky to implement in a painting but might be useful some day, Here is the link: http://www.tripwiremagazine.com/2011/04/photoshop-tutorial-how-to-create-a-lightning.html

Life study of an stone statue. Life studies are tricky but fun, worked on this for a while every morning so the light setup would match. A good way to get up somewhat early hehe. I now know we have to get more statues, saw a cool gigantic buddah head in the stores. That and some skull replicas is on my wanted list :).
Pretty good cover of Ace of spades haha my gf hates banjos but I love it! Take care everyone!

Thought I could share some how I sometimes work step by step. So here is one of the cards I did for the Blisterrot Project. I like to sketch the ideas on paper first, so I fold an A4 sized paper in half, then loosely mark out so I get 12 thumbnail sized borders. Then let the imagination flow :) they are very fun to do, and its good practice too.
I usually work without line-work but when I have a rough sketch I tend to use it as a guideline, block in the colors then polish it up.
Take care yall!

Painting I've been playing around with between work and stuff :) Other than sketching this weekend me and the gf been watching the series Vikings, its badass so far! Really like the costumes and their hairstyles haha all feels legit. And soon time for more Game of thrones right? Linked to some cool music below, and yeah its all because of the intro of Vikings :) Take care yall now time for bed, have a great week!
